The Do's and Don'ts of Oven Cleaning

The most dreaded tasks in the Kitchen

For some people this is one of the most dreaded cleaning tasks in the kitchen. Many domestic oven cleaners quite simply aren’t sufficiently grease cutting enough to remove on grime to do a satisfactory job. Surprisingly we know that many commercial cleaners use such products too and leave their clients underwhelmed by the results.

If you regularly clean your oven from when it’s new, these domestic cleaners may maintain it in good order. If your oven is already too far gone however you’ll be needing something better than a domestic grade oven cleaner.

Some of the better commercial oven cleaning products will do great job but can be extremely corrosive, causing chemical burns to skin or damage to lungs if fumes were inhaled. They may also bleach colour. Most of these are classed as too dangerous to be sold through regular retail outlets. If you do use these commercial oven cleaning products always use extreme caution and carefully follow the instructions and safety precautions. Total Clean undertakes serious health and safety training with our cleaners before they use our commercial grade oven cleaners to deliver great results for our clients, they kit up in safety clothing, masks, gloves and protect areas from over spray with plastic sheeting.

Alternatively, you can also get a good result cleaning the oven with baking soda and vinegar. It does just need a little more elbow grease! Make a paste of baking soda and water and spread the mixture over the entire oven, oven door and glass. Leave for at least 30mins, then start putting in some of that elbow grease! Spray a bit of vinegar on those stubborn areas.

Check your oven user manual, you may be able to place aluminium foil on the bottom of your oven to catch any drips and spills – streamlining your next oven clean!

Cleaning your home windows might seem like a mundane chore, but it offers several benefits beyond just aesthetic appeal. Here are five good reasons to clean your home windows: Enhanced Natural Light: Clean windows allow more natural light to enter your home, brightening up your living spaces and creating a more cheerful and inviting atmosphere. This can have a positive impact on your mood and overall well-being. Improved Views: Dirty windows obstruct the view, making it difficult to enjoy the scenery outside. Regular cleaning ensures that you can fully appreciate the beauty of your surroundings, whether it's a lush garden, a bustling cityscape, or serene countryside. Prolonged Lifespan: Over time, dirt, grime, and debris can accumulate on windows, causing damage to the glass and frames. By regularly cleaning your windows, you can prevent corrosion, scratches, and other forms of deterioration, ultimately extending their lifespan and saving you money on repairs or replacements. Enhanced Curb Appeal: Clean windows contribute to the overall appearance of your home, both from the inside and the outside. Whether you're hosting guests or planning to sell your property, sparkling clean windows make a positive impression and enhance the curb appeal of your home. Healthier Indoor Environment: Dirty windows can harbor allergens, pollutants, and other harmful substances that affect indoor air quality. By keeping your windows clean, you reduce the accumulation of dust, mold, and allergens, creating a healthier environment for you and your family to live in. Overall, regular window cleaning is essential not only for maintaining the appearance of your home but also for promoting comfort, longevity, and well-being.
